Whisper-quite motor
Setting a new industry standard in quiet therapy and comfort, ResMed's new sophisticated motor design delivers superior performance at a lower effort while cutting device noise significantly. By reducing noise, Easy-Breathe technology enables patients and their bed partners to sleep peacefully through the night.
Easy-Breathe technology
Easy-Breathe technology combines new software, a quiter motor, and improved EPR for maximum comfort and a quiet night's sleep. With Easy-Breathe technology, EPR is integrated with AutoSet technology for pressure relief that continually adjust to patients' pressure needs, breath by breath.
Pressure relief for more natural breathing
Featuring ResMed's improved EPR with Easy-Breathe technology, the S8 Elite II offers pressure relief delivered in a smooth waveform that mimics patient breathing. With a choice of three different EPR comfort levels, the S8 Elite II with Easy-Breathe allows customized comfort for breathing that feels natural.
Why choose EPR with Easy-Breathe technology?
Not all CPAP devices with pressure relief are the same. ResMed's EPR with Easy-Breathe technology is supported by clinical studies, proving it as clinically effective as tradtitional fixed CPAP, but significantly more comfortable. EPR is preferred over traditional CPAP by 79% of patients.
EPR is a unique comfort feature of premium flow generators in ResMed’s S8 series.
From initial acceptance to long-term compliance
Proven to enhance comfort during CPAP therapy1, EPR decreases the patient’s CPAP pressure during exhalation on a breath-by-breath basis. This ensures therapy is more acceptable during the initial CPAP trial phase, during ramp only and throughout the night.
Breathe easy with Easy-Breathe Technology
The introduction of ResMed’s Easy-Breathe Technology—which includes a unique, low-inertia, dual-stage motor built into the device—not only improves patient-device synchrony, but now means EPR enables smoother, more natural breathing during treatment.
Why prescribe EPR?
Not all CPAP devices with expiratory relief are the same, nor is the way this feature is implemented. ResMed’s EPR is supported by clinical studies, proving it just as clinically effective as traditional fixed CPAP, but significantly more comfortable.
Predictable: EPR provides three comfort settings to choose from, each corresponding to a set pressure reduction.
- Setting 1: mild reduction (1 cm H2O)
- Setting 2: medium reduction (2 cm H 2O)
- Setting 3: maximum reduction (3 cm H2O)
Customisable: The EPR feature is not merely on or off; it can be selected during ‘ramp only’, ‘ramp and full-time’ or ‘off’, set by the sleep professional to suit each individual patient. Patients may also be given access to this functionality.
Inspiratory-expiratory cycle synchronisation:
Pressure relief is triggered by patient expiration and ends at the start of inspiration; EPR does not rebound after a set period, allowing for variations in individual breathing patterns.
Greater insights into patient therapy: Connecting S8 ResLink to the latest S8 device range captures high-resolution flow data (25Hz), showing patients’ breathing patterns on a breath-by-breath basis ... so you can literally see EPR at work.
