Whisper quiet CPAP masks- for the most restful sleep & therapy

Basically, the manufacturing design of your mask is the one that can influence how quiet or loud a mask can be. When you exhale through the mask, the pressure that is coming through the device will be pushed through the ports of the mask. Therefore, a mask with inefficient exhalation ports will be much louder. Let’s check out a few of the best masks that can ensure a high quality, silent therapy:

AirFit P10 Nasal Pillows Mask by ResMed– declared as being the quietest CPAP mask manufactured by ResMed. The mask is equipped with the latest technology in sleep apnea therapy. The mask is up to 50% lighter and 50% quieter than other masks produced by ResMed. The QuietAir woven-mesh ventilation system will redirect in a gentle manner the air that you exhale. This makes the mask ultra quiet during operation.

Quattro Air Full Face Mask System– if you are not only looking for cpap machine noise reduction, but also for an efficient and quiet mask, the Quattro Air full face mask might be the one for you. Quattro Air is brought to you by ResMed, and it is a high quality, comfortable and whisper quiet mask system that makes therapy compliance easier than ever.

AirFit N10 Nasal Mask– visual freedom, highly user-friendly design, ultra light, compact and whisper quiet. These are the words that best describe the AirFit N10 nasal pillows mask by ResMed. Quietest CPAP devices

If you experience CPAP noise when inhaling, this might be happening because of an inefficient mask. However, even if your mask is silent enough, your CPAP device might still be disturbing you or your bed partner. Some level of noise is inevitable when a CPAP machine is operating, because the machine has a motor that allows it to function. However, there are CPAP machines with high-end technology inbuilt so that they produce the smallest possible level of noise, and there are loud machines that constantly disturb your sleep.  So let’s check out some of the truly quiet CPAP therapy devices available on the market:

DreamStation Auto CPAP  by Respironics– a revolutionary product incorporating high-end technology for a whisper quiet sleep and comfortable therapy whenever you need it. The machine delivers indeed whisper quiet sound levels, and the device is virtually one of the quietest CPAP therapy devices available on the market. Its motor has a sound level of only 25.8 dB when used on average pressure setting (10cm)

AirSense 10 AutoSet + HumidAir and ClimateLieAir Tubing– equipped with an ultra-quiet Easy Breathe motor, patients can enjoy a peaceful environment while enjoying required therapy even at higher pressures. Easy-Breathe is a highly innovative motor featuring special isolating materials and foam which are inbuilt into the base of the machine. Therefore, the machine produces almost no turbulence, and it does not release any disturbing noise into the environment.

Reducing CPAP machines noise levels: is it possible?

Yes. There are several tips and tricks that you can use in order to reduce the noise levels of your CPAP device. Let’s check them out:

  • You should maintain your humidifier always filled to the required levels. Check your instruction manual and see how you should fill your humidifier to the recommended dosage. By keeping it filled appropriately at all times will help you reduce those gurgling sounds that come from your CPAP because of an empty/half empty water tank
  • Do you experience frequent cpap mask noise? Then, maybe it is time to replace your mask cushion. Old, worn out cushions will probably lead to frequent mask leaks, which means higher levels of noise and also chaffed skin issues. Read carefully your mask manual to see how frequently it is required to replace the mask cushions
  • Reduce the noise levels by using special liners that will help you enhance the mask seal and comfort levels. There are available different types of nasal liners and full face mask liners that you can use to enhance the seal of your mask. By using regularly these liners you will help avoiding air leaking through your mask. With less air escaping the mask, the noise levels will also be reduced.
  • Use CPAP gel – a special mask leak sealer that will help creating a thin and smooth barrier that provides the best seal around the mask cushion. This will help stopping the air from leaking, and any disturbing sounds will be eliminated. The gel helps improving overall CPAP therapy and leak. Furthermore, if you are struggling with dry and irritated skin, the gel will help restore these frustrating conditions.

Noise can be a huge nuisance during CPAP therapy. Patients cannot get a good night’s sleep and bed partners complain of being frequently disturbed by noise coming from the mask or the CPAP device. As you can easily note, there are many ways  which you can reduce noise either by investing in an ultra quiet device/mask or by implementing certain good practices that help reducing noise levels.

“Potentially igniting dense oxygen”? Pure oxygen does not burn. It supports combustion, but a flammable fuel must be present.

Why is it stated that the CPAP machine must be turned on first then then the oxygen equipment? Same with why must the oxygen equipment be turned off then the CPAP? Asking because my oxygen equipment is in one room and I sleep with the CPAP in another room due to the noise the oxygen equipment makes.

Because the build up of oxygen accumulated in the CPAP machine without the pressure from the machine can be an explosion risk. By turning on the CPAP machine first then the oxygen it helps eliminate this risk. It’s unlikely… but still possible. A internal power supply failure from the CPAP machine could lead to a spark. Potentially igniting dense oxygen. Small but possible.
