So, what does the AirMini look like? As you can see from the Resmed Airmini Photo this is indeed the smallest CPAP in the world. The AirMini by ResMed is a self-adjusting system which is suitable for the treatment of OSA-Obstructive Sleep Apnea. The machine is suitable for both home use and use in a clinical environment. The AirMini system includes the following items and setup packs:

  • AirMini machine, power supply unit, carry case + one of the following packs:
  • The F20 AirMini setup pack- compatible air tubing, F20 connector or
  • The N20 AirMini setup pack: compatible air tubing, the N20 connector, HumidX & HumidX Plus waterless humidification capsules or
  • The P10 AirMini setup pack- which includes compatible air tubing the AirFit P10 for AirMini mask, P10 mask cushion, HumidX & HumidX Plus waterless humidification systems, and the AirFit P10 headgear clips. Please keep in mind that the P10 setup pack is the only pack including a mask.

HumidX & HumidX Plus humidifier systems for AirMini

HumidX and HumidX Plus are waterless humidifiers. The HumidX is suitable for humidification in average climate conditions, while the Plus version is suitable for humidification in dry climates (such as in an aircraft cabin). The systems are designed so as to offer higher comfort levels by balancing the moisture content of the air you breathe. The humidifiers also provide relief from dryness complications.

When the ambient humidity levels are very low, the use of the HumidX Plus is highly recommended. For example, HumidX Plus needs to be used in an aircraft or at high altitudes. For all other climate conditions, the HumidX waterless humidification is recommended.

  • HumidX and HumidX Plus can be used only with the N20 connector for AirMini and the AirFit P10 for AirMini
  • Both HumidX and HumidX Plus must be replaced 30 days after opening the package.

AirMini Comfort features

AirMini features several comfort features that you can use to enjoy a more comfortable and compliant therapy session. For example, Ramp Time allows you to fall asleep upon a gentler pressure. When the time is up, the machine will gradually return to the prescribed pressure levels so that you will receive indicated pressure levels and therapy.

Then, pressure relief is also available on the AirMini. EPR- or Expiratory Pressure Relief is a premium comfort feature which enhances the comfort levels during CPAP therapy. The EPR helps reducing the CPAP pressure upon exhalation on a breath-by-breath basis. Therefore, patients can become quickly therapy compliant and will accept CPAP therapy much quicker thanks to this comfort feature.

SmartStart is yet another comfort feature that will help you become quickly therapy compliant. When SmartStart is enabled, you can actually start your therapy by simply taking a breath and the machine will start delivering required therapy.

AirMini App- keep control of your therapeutic session

The AirMini machine is designed to work with the AirMini App. You can easily and quickly download your application on iTunes or Google Play (IOS and Android smart devices respectively). The AirMini app represents a personal sleep therapy assistant, and it allows you to make changes to the comfort settings or view therapy data with a few clicks.

  • Manage everything on your smart device- including Start / Stop of your therapy with the AirMini
  • Sleep Tracking feature- receive daily stats regarding AirMini usage hours, events per hour or mask seal. These statistics are all recorded for you to view after you wake up
  • Personal dashboard- the most recent therapy session snapshot will be available on your dashboard so that you can easily view all important therapeutic data
  • Adjustable comfort settings – Ramp Time, SmartStart, EPR. Please keep in mind that therapy pressure will be set by your medical provider.
  • Easily connect to your AirMini machine using Bluetooth technology

AirMini by ResMed has been designed to work as a fully integrated system. All you need to do is select a compatible mask and a setup pack that will match with your AirMini device. Regardless of where you are travelling, your comfortable sleep therapy goes with you.

Here’s how you can setup your AirMini device easily:

AirMini accessories for maximum portability & comfort

ResMed has developed a series of accessories suitable for your machine. The HumidX provides efficient humidification without the hassle of pouring water in a tank. The HumidX capsules capture moisture from the ambient and from your breath and turn it into effective humidification for your therapy. HumidX system provides effective humidification in all environments and climates. Choose HumidX for average climates and HumidX Plus for dry climate conditions such as high altitudes.

The AiMini special Mount System will also help you secure your CPAP to various points such as the bedframe, the walls or the airplane seat pocket. There are many different ways in which you can use the Mount System to secure the CPAP to the most convenient spot in your environment, even to your bedside table.

The AirMini stylish travel bag allows you to pack nicely everything you need for therapy on the go. It is a small and compact bag with practical compartments for the AirMini unit and its accessories. Pack your AirMini travel bag with everything you need to reach out for your required air therapy whenever and wherever you need it.

You can set a min and max pressure by going into the clinical settings of the AirMini by ResMed on your smart device that you downloaded the App to. Please realize that this is an auto titrating machine and the pressure will adjust to just what you need. Probably no reason to set any pressures.

You would use the AirMini app to enter the clinical menu and from there you can change the pressure settings.

There is a set procedure to enter the clinical mode using the app. QAs a health professional, i due this often suit patients to their preferred pressure. However auto titrating will allow the patient to get the pressure they need without adjusting pressures. To get into the clinical menu, open the app, press on the Bluetooth symbol, on the next screen press both thumbs on the area above the Res med logo and hold for up to 5 seconds. This accesses the clinic menu. Just be careful what you change. Hope this helps.

I use the Air Sense and love it. But it is too big for traveling. If you are looking for a field tester for your product, let me know. I would be happy to test it and write a review. I have tested products and been on evaluation panels in the past.

I’ve been using the Air Mini as a travel CPAP for intercontinental trips and weeks in hotels… My at home CPAP is a Resmed AirSense 10 autoset. I really like the portability of the unit. Love the device… butt there are some major issues with electrical plug decisions…

The huge wall wart plug is too heavy and vibrates out of airline business class plugs due to its weight. It’s also almost impossible to use with international plug adapters… also pulling itself out of the outlets.

In two Pan-Pacific flights, the electrical draw from the unit tripped the breaker in the business class seating. Are they exceeding what the airlines allow?

Since the A.C. plug is almost useless AND theyve chosen a proprietary a.c. connection to the device, when will they release a battery or replacement ac adapter more like the airsense 10 power supply?

I want to use this expensive device… but resmed choices in powering it should have been figured out in testing…. right now I have to use a 2 foot extension cord to reduce the weight on the ac outlets. Remember that hotel and plane outlets are usually loose due to their insertion overuse.

90% awesome ruined by stupid engineering ignorance of primary use cases.

Thank you for your comments. We understand your fustration. The battery is due out later in the year. We will surely announce it as soon as it is released. It is interesting how different people look at things differently. One of the biggest pluses people have expressed is that there is not a large power brick to lug around. I will be forwarding your comments to a Vice President at ResMed so he can see what customers have to say.

I am also shocked. Did they not test this with people who fly? Aircraft plugs are very picky; if they don’t like what is plugged into them they shut off immediately. Many CPAP power supplies are right on the edge, you have to plug then in 10 times to get it to work, if it works. Many airplane seats put the plug into the armwell where a big wall wart will NOT go, or if it goes, your arm may hit it as this is the cramped space where your arm goes. On the other hand, most planes use a universal socket, and UK, Euro or even Aus plugs stay in more firmly than US ones. I use a power supply with changeable tips and switch it to UK when on a plane — very solid. Best design is non-wart, with a thin light cable to the plug. Or frankly, just make the unit larger and put the power supply inside it. Yes, larger — because I never travel without the PS, even when planning battery operation.

Speaking of batteries, I have my own batteries, I don’t want to buy more. While I can do 24v that’s one of the least common voltages. Use 12v, 16v or 19-20v which are the common laptop voltages, but best of all, take anything from 10v to 24v if you can. A cheap buck converter chip will do that for you.

Charles, Thanks for the response. If they can put the ac/dc converter inside of the wall wart, they can make it the same size brick with a nice STANDARD 2-conductor IEC-60320-C7 port that gives customers the freedom to use widely available power tails that end in either straight or right angle NEMA 1-15P (USA Plug) or international cords. That doesn’t constitute larger, its actually more convenient because I can use USA tails when in USA, and AP or EMEA standard plugs when in those countries.. at very low expense. We’re at the end of August still without any battery options from Resmed – That’s plenty of time for them to bring forth an option based on their existing battery solutions for the S9, S10. Have they forgotten about their new product?

Have you tried using a short extension cable so the DC adapter can lay on the floor?
